I have been dating a wonderful man for the past 392 days. He has filled my life with joy, love and laughter.
Last night that wonderful man proposed. On a sailboat. On the Great Salt Lake. It was perfect. I said YES.
I cannot wait to marry Bret Hardy, he fills my life with joy. He loves me just how I always hoped I would be loved. And last night was nothing but the most magical night ever.

Nothing Fancy...
I know. Two posts in one week, seriously Holly, calm down.
I am a music lover. A while back my friend introduced me to this song. I think it is beautiful and I love the words.
To have someone "love you as hard as they can," or to be someone's "walkin' dream come true," actually sounds very fancy to me. I hope I am that person to someone someday.
Enjoy.
p.s. Dave Barnes has other wonderful songs too, you should look him up.

On the road...again
This morning I was driving to work and I had my ipod on shuffle. A Disney song may or may not have started blaring through my speakers. I started dancing like a child. In my car. By myself. While driving to work.
At this point it seemed like a really great idea to just go to my Disney playlist and hear what it had to offer me for the rest of my commute.
Suddenly, I found myself back in my memories of me as a child dressed in my sea green full-body unitard dancing around my living room to medleys like, Kiss the Girl all the way to I Just Can't Wait to be King. I remember singing at the top of my lungs to the latter thinking I was quite possibly the best singer ever. Had I known about American Idol at the time I probably would have half expected them to knock on my door and recruit me.
I got caught up in the lyrics, "Everybody look left. Everybody look right. Everywhere you look I'm standing Spotlight." As I looked right I made eye contact with the driver in the lane to my right and was immediately brought back to reality and immediately felt embarrassed.
Good times. I personally always smile when I see people singing/dancing in the car. Perhaps they usually have others with them to share the moment though...

Orange Cones...
I was talking to my friend on the phone the other day and for the first five minutes I complained about the orange cones surrounding me. She suggested maybe I should blog about it. So here I am.
I can't escape them. They are on both major streets running east and west of my house and worst of all, on the major street running north and south. I tried escaping them by going down to state street one day and bam...to my dismay orange cones had magically appeared. One day I tried using a street further east and same thing, orange cones right in my direction of travel. It's like they're haunting me.
To make matters worse my commute route to work is undergoing the largest construction project in the nation for the next two years.
I just can't figure out why the city can't fix one street and move to the next. Instead, they rip all the streets up on every side of me and leave me with no orange cone escape route.
Oh well. Perhaphs I'll have to stop complaining and just get used to the beautiful bright orange.

p.s. Did I fail to mention I got pulled over for speeding in a construction zone the other day? Ouch.

She works hard for the the money...
So hard for it honey.
That song kept running through my head today as I was running back and forth, here, there and everywhere at work...in heels.
I pulled off this big event at work tonight and had to dress up and look all nice and pretty. I even curled my hair this morning, and ironed my shirt...it was a big deal. One guy even told me he liked my "new look." I guess I don't fully get ready for work everyday. Whoops.
My feet were simply killing me by noon and I still had 9 hours to go. Somehow I survived. There is just something about a nice pair of heels in the business world that makes you feel great, even while your feet are completely on strike over the whole situation.

The Man...
I've been working at the same job for approximately 1 year 6 months 18 days and 4 hours. (Who's counting?)
I check my pay stub every two weeks and for some reason every time I've still only earned 4.62 hours of PTO (paid time off). I keep hoping by some miraculous stroke of luck one pay period it's going to spike to some magical number above the single digit of four.
It never does.
I'm craving an adventure. Unfortunately my 4.62 hours of PTO just isn't adding up fast enough for me to run away to Greece, Spain, Peru or the Bahamas. (All destinations on my Travel wish list.)
Alas, I just keep "working for the man" and day dreaming about wild adventures and how I can become a stay at home person and have as much PTO as I want. Sometimes being a big girl is hard. And Fergie is wrong, sometimes big girls do cry. I nearly cried when I had to write a check to "the man" for my 2009 taxes. As if what was deducted from my paycheck wasn't enough.
It seems like I should get as much PTO as the dollar amount they take for taxes. Yeah, that seems right. Then I would for sure be able to complete my travel wish list.
Well, until I've banked enough PTO to use my passport I'll smile about my sunny San Diego weekend get-away that will cost me 8 hours PTO, but will keep me excited until my plane leaves in about 408 hours.

You Fool...
April Fool's Day was a success for me. I played about 5.5 successful pranks! My friend made a post saying she didn't have "jokey street cred." I thought I'd post about how I do think I have "jokey street cred."
#1: Emailed our Secretary telling her a Mr. Lyon called about an invoice that needed to be resolved. I left her the number to the Hogle Zoo...funny. They have an especially funny greeting on April Fool's Day.
#2: Met up with Adrienne for lunch, successfully stole her keys out of her purse, slipped out to the parking lot and moved her car. It was hilarious when she walked aimlessly around the lot looking for her car that seemed to disappear.
#3: My coworker sent me a "personal" email about how stressed out he was with work, school (currently getting his MBA), family and his church calling (Bishopric member) and then he told me he had just been called as the Bishop...YIKES. His email descriptively explained how he wasn't sure how to do it all and he plead for my advice and asked me not to forward the email to anyone. Well, I forwarded it to my Manager and our Boss (said co-worker was in on it, btw), telling them I didn't know what to tell him. They both fell for it hook, line and sinker. Although, when my boss entered my office to talk to me about the email, I had a panic attack and began screaming, "It's not real! It's a joke! April Fools! He's not really the Bishop!"
I couldn't handle the heat.
#4: The above counts as two, cause I fooled two people.
#5: I told Whitney I got engaged and she BOUGHT it. I was a little disappointed seeing as she is my prank cohort in many jokes I play throughout the year. Come on Whitney...it was April Fools...can't believe you bought it.
#5.5: This one only gets a half point because the subject of the prank figured it out and tried to turn the joke back on me by making me believe they fell for it. Let's just say we were going to trick them into taking a "survey" to qualify as a subject in a brain study and receive $250 for their cooperation. The survey was going to be made up of the most asinine questions you've ever heard of. The subject never took the fake "survey" but tried to get me to believe they did, and that their brain scan is set for Wednesday...ha! I know better.
Working full-time cramps my style, so I like to make life better by doing silly things like the above.
A special thanks to all those who fell for my silly tricks.
